Q: Why does the tour start in Croatia and not in Bosnia itself?
A: Many of our travellers join this tour straight after a Croatia Sailing tour with one of those providers such as our sister brand Go Croatia Sail, or other providers such as Busabout, Sail Croatia, Top Deck, Katarina Line and Contiki. As most of these 7-day boat tours finish on a Saturday in Split or Dubrovnik, then it makes sense for the tour to start at a convenient location for our travellers. However, you can certainly join the tour in Mostar if that is more convenient with you. In addition, both Split and Dubrovnik have excellent flight connections (Mostar has hardly any)!
Q: What time does the tour depart from Split and Dubrovnik?
A: Our local representative in Split will put you onto a local bus at 9.30am at Split Bus Station that goes to Capljina (just over the Bosnian border), where your Go Bosnia tour leader will meet you. From Dubrovnik (£30 supplement), the departure time is 10.30am.
Q: Why is the departure from Split on a local bus?
A: Unfortunately, the border controls for mini-buses between Croatia and Bosnia are now so strict (as Croatia is EU and Bosnia is non-EU) that the delays and obstacles put in place causes too many issues. Therefore, as cross-border public buses do not have such issues, it makes sense for us to include the bus and have the guide + tour vehicle meet you in the first town over the border, Capljina.
Q: Why does the departure from Dubrovnik incur a £30 supplement?
A: Unfortunately, the border controls for mini-buses between Croatia and Bosnia are now so strict (as Croatia is EU and Bosnia is non-EU) that the delays and obstacles put in place causes too many issues. Therefore, for Dubrovnik we have to hire Croatian mini-buses or private transfer vehicles to transfer our travellers to Ivanica, which is just over the Bosnian border near Dubrovnik. The transfer from Dubrovnik to Ivanica only takes 30 mins and our guide + Bosnian tour vehicle will be waiting for you there.
Q:How many people will be on the tour?
A: Our tours run with minimum 4 people, up to maximum 18 people.
Q:What nationalities and ages are usually on these tours?
A: Most of our guests are aged between 18 and 39 (although occassionally we accept older people if they understand that they need a "young at heart" attitude to life for this tour), with the majority falling in the twenties and early thirties bracket. They are from English-speaking countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Canada, USA), EU countries (mostly Western Europe) and others such as Israel and Brazil.
Q:How much spending money should I bring?
A: Personal spending money amounts obviously vary from person to person but as a general rule around Euro 25 to Euro 30 per day can cover additional meals and optional entrances.
Q: Do I have to have any insurance?
A: We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance before you go.
Q: How do I get to Split and Dubrovnik?
A: We have a whole page on our website dedicated to getting to Croatia and Dubrovnik. Please click on it
here.
Q: Is the Bosnia tour fully led all the way through?
A: Yes, you will have a Bosnian/English-speaking tour leader who meets you in Capljina and leads you through Bosnia and Herzegovina. He will have a day off on the Tuesday, but you can book a separate specialist tour guide for a Sarajevo walking tour for that day. By law, he can orientate you around every destination, but is not allowed to give you an in-depth guided walk around Mostar either, but there is also the option of a walking tour of the old city there.
Q: I am a solo traveller or in a couple - if I don't want to share a dorm, can I pay a double/single supplement?
A: Yes, you can pay a double or single supplement - please email us for prices. You must also book your single cabin and rooms in advance.
Q: What food is included on the Bosnia tour?
A: Breakfasts are included every morning.
Q: What if I am vegetarian or have other special dietary requirements, how can you help me?
A: You should tell us about your special dietary requirements before your tour starts and we can ensure that the breakfasts are more suited to your requirements.
Q:Can I leave the tour in Sarajevo?
A: Yes, you can - this means you would be on our
5-day Go Bosnia Tour version. The price would then be £70 less.
Q: Are there towels provided?
A: You will be provided with bathroom towels at the accommodation. However, you should definitely bring your own beach towel for swim stops at places such as Kravica Waterfalls.
